I came home last week with a small box full of jalapeno peppers.
It was kind of a 'buy 1, get 100 for free' sort of deal.
I like to grab a handful at the store, dice them up, and keep them in the freezer to toss bits into soups and other foods while I'm cooking, but this batch was huge - WAY more than I needed to keep on hand for cooking.

These were taken during our move from Washington to Arizona.

Arches National Park is such a colorful place, that my first instinct was to leave these two photos in color, but the details in the rock formations are so amazing and I like how 

they really stand out in B&amp;W too.

I've been sick for a month now! 

I've had a few short breaks, but just as I seem to be nearly recovered from one bad cold,

Step 1: Get this stuff!

In case you can't tell (because I happen to be a world class messy sprayer), 

it's Krylon Looking Glass spray paint.





 Step 2: Scavenge up some nifty jars.





 Step 3: Paint jars.
I sprayed them with water first to get the drippy, see through look.





Step 4: Add a ribbon, a bit of material, or any other embellishment.

On New Year's Eve (day) we met some friends in the park to play,
picnic, and to say a proper farewell to 2011.

It seems that fall had finally found it's way into Anthem, Arizona

Mom created this incredibly delicious Pecan Fudge. 

Her recipe called for marshmallow cream, but she chose not to add it, so the fudge never firmed. 

We ate it with spoons because it was so gooey. 

It was the BEST FUDGE EVER!


Dad made sugar plums, a time consuming and rare treat. 

These sticky little balls of spicy fruit are so AMAZINGLY ADDICTING!

Obviously there is still much to do. . . and many empty wall areas to fill, but it's a start and it feels comforting to have some of our familiar items unpacked and sharing space with us again.

My sewing room looks as though a scissor happy cloth-tornado recently swept through, but I've been happily busy making Christmas gifts!

My poor sick husband is snuffly and achy.
I feel fine, but exhausted as he is keeping me awake all night with his coughing and tossing and turning.

We haven't found a new church yet. I think that's a large part of my uneasy feelings.
We left a great church behind when we moved.
We tried a church here near our new home, and it was incredibly, unbelievably, amazingly friendly. Without a doubt, the

 This was our view as we drove back down Schnebly Hill.

We could see exactly where we needed to go to find snow!




We headed up the highway, towards Flagstaff and the higher elevation.

As we were leaving Sedona it began to hail.




Ten minutes outside of town, it began to snow. 

The higher we went, the more snow we found!





We stopped at the viewpoint.

We looked around a few shops in Sedona, then took a drive up Schnebly Hill Road (one of our favorite scenic drives). We parked several times along the route to do a little hiking.

On Friday morning Mike checked the weather report (as he does every morning, shortly after waking up) and discovered that a snow storm was working it's way towards Prescott. 



That's only a one hour drive from us!



As much as I'm enjoying our new home, I miss winter. I miss snow!

I'm having a difficult time getting into the Christmas spirit in 75° temperatures.

We had a very full weekend. 

We spent most of Friday shopping for several basics that we needed to put our home together. On Saturday, Mike organized our belongings that are still in the garage, we stopped by my parents home to borrow some tools and say hi, we went out to visit Mike's grandma in the afternoon, then finished off the evening at a birthday party for our friend, Danny!

After several days of cold showers, I was really looking forward to a long, hot bath! In fact, one of the things I really liked when we first saw this house was it's deep bathtub.

We arrived late in the day and the sun was going down quickly during our visit to Canyon De Chelly, but I did get a few photos before it became too dark.
 The rock walls around the area had so many different textures.

We've been in Arizona for just over a week now.




My parents live in Glendale (part of the Phoenix Metro Mess) and have been kind enough to let us stay with them while we hunt for our new home. Mike started his new job (sort of old job, since he is back at a previous employer) last Monday, while I took the truck into the repair shop. Well, that worked out well... I've arrived at part five, as well as Day 5, in my story - the final day of our move!

A couple of weekends ago we decided to take a day trip over to Leavenworth. Not only is it Oktoberfest month, but this is also around the same time that Mike and I went on our first real date (no other friends invited) - to Leavenworth for the day - 14 years ago!

Last weekend, while attending the geocaching camp out, Mike and I joined a small group for a five mile hike that took us through a couple of tunnels and over several (I lost count after seven) train tressels, somewhere South East of Lewiston, Idaho.



The tressels were really interesting. We slept in, spent the sunny morning at the Farmers Market  where we enjoyed the "world's best tacos ever" (we look forward to these tacos all week long) and purchased enough fresh, leafy greens, delicious berries, and - this is the Pacific Northwest after all - a bag of cherries to restock our fridge with!

We had a few extra hours this afternoon and the weather was too nice to not spend it outdoors, so we took the kayak out to Soda Lake and worked out our arm muscles with a nice ride against the current. 

My favorite part was riding the current back - Mike guided the boat and I just enjoyed the ride!
